Tea is a powerful substance. Relationships can be born over a cup. Age old disputes can be settled. Nerves can be calmed. Unsolved puzzles find solution while tea cups are steadily drained. Albert Einstein looked down at his cup of tea one day and literally used tea to solve a puzzle. Heck, tea played quite a large role in establishing The United States of America. All of these things I have mentioned regarding tea, they have one thing in common, they are activities engaged in solely by adults. Or so I thought. See, there is a lesser known tea party that has life long effect. The Boston Tea Party was great. Don’t get me wrong- but I just attended one that was mind blowing. A simple teapot, when in the hands of a child, now that is a world-altering force. In a teapot, A child can brew imagination. The variety of leaves is endless. There is no limit to what can come out of a child’s pot. Now, what goes into the cup, that will really blow your hair back. I saw my little girl put on a pot of tea at her table last night. I was amazed. What initially tasted like tap water, transformed into an agent capable of enlightenment. It took about two cups to get me loosened up, but that third cup. Whew. It happened. I went back in time 21 years. I was totally on her level, instead of talking about how school was, her responding with a “fine.”… I was with her. I was having a tea party with a 3 year old, my age. We talked about how the tea tasted, where it came from. It was interesting to find out that most of her toys didn’t like it, but the monster under her bed was a raging fan of the stuff. We made a batch of the stuff for him.

It’s pretty cool, Journal. How something as simple as a tea party has so much power wrapped inside it. Kimmy was sick today. I needed to stay here at home to help with the kids. I can still do work from home and be with my family. Not ideal for productivity, but as far as flexibility goes, very nice. I got to collaborate with my other daughter today. Charlotte is getting to be a very good typist, I think she could crack 50 words per minute- that is, if she can keep the keyboard out of her mouth.
